Once no more than a small fishing village in Langkawi, Telaga Harbor Park is today a massive 27-acre complex featuring yacht berthing facilities, a picturesque quay filled with shops and eateries, a boardwalk showcasing the splendid panorama and a huge number of facilities for yachters! Famed for being one of the best tourist attractions in Malaysia, Telaga Harbor Park is more than just a boring ole park where boats are berthed: it’s a place to enjoy, to experience, to love!

Let’s take a look at the Telaga Harbor Park and see what brings it into the list of essential places to visit in Langkawi!

The Telaga Harbor Park is the ideal spot to berth your yacht because it offers a safe and sheltered harbor where your yacht is good to stay for as many days as you wish! So whether it’s a normal yacht or a mega-yacht, it’s going to be in the right place at this home base of yachts!

The Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) worked on the development of this harbor for berthing facilities to increase tourism to the area and provide a safe shelter for yachts sailing in the region. Many different sizes of yachts are accommodated here, with different piers for different sizes, such as the Mega-Yacht Pier, the Marina Pier and the Floating Pontoons.

The best part for sailors at the Telaga Harbor Park are the facilities offered here. General facilities include a Custom House for Customs and Immigrations, a Harbor Master who controls everything, 24-hour security, the Marine Office where sailors can relax and free high-speed Wi-Fi broadband for workers, sailors or tourists who need to use the net!

Telaga Harbor Park offers ferry services to and from Koh Lipe, which happens to be a small island and is also a picturesque fishing village north of Langkawi but falls under the jurisdiction of Thailand! Koh Lipe is considered to be one of the things to do in Langkawi, since it is home to the Turatao National Marine Park and is favored as a snorkeling and scuba-diving expedition destination. All you need to do is get your gear sorted and head to the Telaga Harbor Ferry Terminal!

One of the most interesting places in Malaysia, Perdana Quay is more than just a quay: It is a vibrant, up-market, shop-and-eat sort of destination which offers the best of the best, whether it be food, souvenirs or personal items in the nature of clothes and perfumes!
Offering a meandering route of boutique shops and amazing eateries, the Perdana Quay is like shoppers-heaven for tourists and locals alike. Some of the best restaurants to try out at Perdana Quay are those that offer fresh seafood, the US SR for Russian fare, Mare Blu for home-made Italian pastas and pizzas and The Loaf!

Perdana Quay is also home to a number of pubs and clubs, which makes it one of the best places to visit in Malaysia when it comes to nightlife!

The Telaga Harbor Park is quite easy to get to, being centrally located on Pantai Kok. If you’re coming in from the Langkawi International Airport, it’s going to take you fifteen minutes via Jalan Telok Burau. From Kuah Town, it’s a half-an-hour cab ride. Sorted!

Entry into Telaga Harbor Park is free, although sailors will have to request permission and pay to berth here. The park itself is quite huge and offers ample opportunity to explore, although you might want to wear flat shoes to do so! Since Telaga Harbor Park is part and parcel of Langkawi, please ensure you follow all eco-tourism principles and avoid littering, unnecessary pollution or damage to property! Let’s have fun and leave as we came, so we can conserve our environment for future generations to enjoy!
