Nestled in Pantai Cenang opposite Meritus Pelangi Hotel on Jalan Pantai Cenang, Laman Padi Langkawi was first established in the year 1999 and has grown in leaps and bounds since then. Laman Padi is quite huge and covers a vast acreage, so it’s quite easy to wander around for hours There are many unique features of this places, some of the most interesting ones being the Heritage Gallery, the Paddy Gallery, the Herbal Garden, the Café D’ Paddy Restaurant, the Nawa Sari Spa and the Roof Top Garden.
The Heritage Gallery is quite impressive, showcasing the history of rice cultivation in Malaysia from the last centuries up to today. The Roof Top Garden is another wonderful spot, where you can breathe in the aroma of herbs and spices as you enjoy the warm sunshine.
Once you reach the entrance of Laman Padi, please look for a guide to take you around. The guides are free, friendly and very informative! They’ll take you around, show you the different paddies, the cultivation techniques, the herb garden and the Museum Laman Padi (the Heritage Gallery). The tranquil surrounds are ideal for meandering walks soaking up information on rice, after which you can opt for authentic Japanese, Thai, Chinese and Malay cuisine at the Laman Ria Restaurant or a lovely herb massage at the Nawa Sari Spa next to the Heritage Gallery! Admission into Laman Padi comes at the cost of RM2 per adult, although it’s free for kids. Open hours are from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm, although there are timed visits if you wish to have a guide.
